It can be unbelievably tough spending time by yourself at home sometimes, especially during the COVID-19 pandemic.
One can’t control feeling lonely, and different people have different ways of coping with that.
Some might watch a movie, some go on Tinder, and some even visit KTV lounges illegally.

Oftentimes, the feeling may even lead to irrational behaviour, like how this particular woman dealt with it.
Woman Throws Heavy Household Items Down
It wasn’t just heavy rain that might have been falling from the skies this particular day, for it so happened to also be raining… household items?
One fateful day back in March 2020, 47-year-old Maslina Ramlee began hurling random items from her 12th floor unit in Bishan down to the ground floor.
Among these items was a computer CPU, a computer monitor, a Hi-Fi set, a sound bar and five metal pots – you can only imagine the impact they made from a fall that high.
They landed between a grass patch and a concrete path below the block, where residents often passed by to cross to other blocks and make their way to the exercise corner.
Thankfully, no one was in the area when the items hit home, and there were no casualties.
Although there was no saving the items, which ended up badly damaged.
One of the only witnesses to the incident was 28-year-old Ms Senthuja Subramanian, who worked as a social worker at a senior activity centre in the vicinity.

Upon hearing loud noises, she looked over to see Maslina hurling the said items out of the window with the monitor already on the ground, and immediately reported the incident to the police.

She Was Just LonelyÂ
Why would Maslina throw all these perfectly fine, and expensive, items out the window just like that?
Well, she admitted that it was because she was frustrated and upset from having to be alone at home all the time, as her son and husband were currently in jail.

Unfortunately, for committing a rash act that endangered human lives, Maslina will also be serving time in jail – six weeks, to be exact.
Her actions were extremely dangerous to others’ lives as the impact of the items falling from such a height could possibly kill someone, Deputy Public Prosecutor Andrew Chia said.
The importance of curbing killer litter was stressed upon, especially as a majority of Singaporeans live in HDB buildings.
From 2016 to 2018, there were more than 7,700 cases of littering from high-rise buildings reported, with some cases of killer litter causing the deaths of others.
Apparently, this wasn’t Maslina’s first offence as well, for she had committed offences in 2000 and 2008 as well, which were not elaborated upon in detail.

Maslina will begin serving her sentence on 8 September, although she remains on bail for S$3,000.
She could have faced up to six months in jail, a fine of up to S$2,500 or both for committing a rash act which endangered human lives.
