The salted egg trend doesn’t seem to be going away anytime soon, especially in Singapore.
Unlike the 90s, where you rather have a double helping of preserved radish (cai xin) than add one salted egg to your porridge, salted egg just boost everything up to max level.

And it seems we’re not the only ones to notice this trend of #EverythingAlsoSaltedEgg.
Because Long John Silver is jumping onto the salted egg bandwagon.
Long John Silver Golden Three Sets
On 26 Sep, Long John Silver’s decided to reproduce their classic LJS menu with a twist.
Instead of just golden batter, they’re making their signature items even more luxurious with sweet golden salted egg sauce.
And topped off with curry leaves and chili padi.
You can choose between the Golden Squid, Golden Chicken or the Golden Seafood set.
And the best part? These can be yours for just $7.50 or less.
Each set comes served with fragrant rice, while the Golden Squid set comes with rice and coleslaw.
Coke, Coke Zero or Sprite will be served to accompany your meal. Salted egg, while delicious as hell, can get pretty gelat too.

LiHo’s latest creation will bring a smile to all salted egg lovers’ faces in Singapore. They’ve come up with a new drink that involves golden sweet salted egg sauce added into a cup of beverage.
Made with real salted eggs mashed with Okinawa-style brown sugar pearls, it was supposed to be launched exclusively at the CMYK at Bayfront Event Space (i.e. pop-up style).
However, probably because the response for the drink was so good, they’ve decided to sell it exclusively at 3 LiHo outlets in Singapore:
- Bugis+: 201 Victoria Street, #03-29/30, Singapore 188067
- Suntec City: 3 Temasek Boulevard, #03-379, Singapore 038983
- Vivo City: 1 Harbourfront Walk, #01-111, 098585
According to LiHo themselves, it’ll taste like “sweet salted egg lava with creamy fresh milk and a tinge of warm brown sugar pearls”.
In other words, “like a custard bun”.
So what are you waiting for? Time to jio your salted-egg-crazy friends to come out and chill liao.
What’s next? McDonald’s salted egg pie?
