A 50-year-old lorry driver faced a terrifying attack by a black panther after he stopped his vehicle to urinate by the roadside in Negeri Sembilan, Malaysia.

The unexpected wildlife encounter turned an answer to nature calls into a dangerous situation that left the driver with significant injuries.

Sudden Panther Attack on Malaysian Roadside Leaves Driver Injured

The incident happened at 3:31 pm on Thursday (3 April) along Jalan Bukit Tangga-Seremban in Jelebu, Negeri Sembilan.

A dashcam from a passing vehicle recorded the 16-second footage of the attack, capturing the moment when the driver fell to the ground as the panther sprinted back into the forest after the encounter.

The video has since circulated widely on social media platforms.

The driver suffered significant head injuries during the encounter with the wild animal.

Multiple photos shared across social media networks showed the victim with his forehead and face badly bloodied and severely injured following the attack.

Faizal Izham Pikri, director of the Negri Sembilan Wildlife Protection and National Parks Department (Perhilitan), verified the details of the incident.

“The victim was attacked on the head by a panther,” Mr Faizal stated, confirming that the big cat emerged suddenly from the forest, attacked the man, and then fled back into the woods.

Following the attack, the injured driver took the initiative to post a selfie video to a Facebook group, warning other lorry drivers about the potential danger in the area, according to Sin Chew Daily.

Wildlife Authorities Increase Safety Measures Following Panther Incident

After the attack, the driver was quickly transported to Hospital Tuanku Ja’afar for medical treatment of his injuries.

The Negri Sembilan Perhilitan officially received reports of the incident, including the dashcam footage, at 6:14 PM on Thursday.

The department immediately began investigating the situation and planning appropriate responses to the wildlife incident.

In direct response to this frightening encounter, wildlife authorities have significantly increased patrols in the area where the attack occurred.

Perhilitan officials have also arranged visits to the victim to offer support following the traumatic experience.

Mr Faizal urged road users to stay alert when traveling through known wildlife corridors across Malaysia. He emphasized the importance of caution in areas where wild animals might be present.

He also advised the public to contact authorities immediately if they encounter wild animals on the road.
