If this sounds like a deja vu, don’t blame yourself: on Tuesday morning, a lorry collided with a stationary tipper truck along the Pan-Island Expressway (PIE), and 17 migrant workers who work for Bright Asia Construction were onboard the back of the lorry.
Two of them eventually succumbed to their injuries.
And yesterday (24 April 2021), a mere four days later, another similar accident occurred.
Another Lorry Flipped On Its Side With Migrant Workers in It; 10 People Sent to Hospital
Yesterday, at around 7:25am, an accident occurred along Upper Bukit Timah Road—somewhere near the Rail Mall.
Unlike the previous accident that involved two vehicles, the cause of the accident this time is a tad different: the lorry driver has reportedly lost control of the vehicle and flipped sideways after crashing onto the side of the road.
10 people, which comprises the 35-year-old driver and 9 passengers between the age of 26 to 50, were sent to the hospital. All of them were conscious and investigations are ongoing.
Here’s a video of what happened after the accident:
While it did rain in the morning, it appears that the road was dry during the accident.

On Tuesday, the accident was much more serious.
The first casualty, Mr Toffazal Hossain, died from his injuries in hospital on the day of the accident. The second casualty, Mr Sugunan Sudheeshmon, passed away at the age of 28 three days later.
As of Friday, five workers are still in the hospital, one of whom has been moved from the intensive care unit to the high dependency unit.
Nine were discharged on the day of the accident after being treated for minor injuries.
The police have since arrested a 36-year-old male lorry driver for careless driving causing death.
