Louis Koo. Wuhan Virus. SGD$2 million. When differentiated into separate entities, these three terms don’t appear related in any way. Louis Koo, for one, is an established actor who has dominated the Hong Kong film scene for decades. So what has he got to to do with the Wuhan Virus, which is reportedly the second coming of SARS (back in 2003)?

Well, the answer lies in the keyword ‘SGD$2 million’. Louis Koo might’ve no previous relation to the Wuhan Virus, but his recent donation of SGD$2 million has just suggested otherwise.

Yes folks. The accomplished actor’s more than just a handsome face on screen; he has just donated a whopping SGD$2 million to help in the battle against the novel coronavirus crisis in Wuhan, China.

Heroes wear capes? Nah they wear chic clothes and appear on screen.

HK Star Louis Koo Allegedly Donated SGD$2 Million to Fight Wuhan Virus

According to The Star, Hong Kong actor Louis Koo is believed to have contributed a shocking SGD$2 million to assist in the battle against the novel coronavirus crisis in Wuhan, China.

The virus, which has seen an entire city locked down and whole flights cancelled, has claimed the lives of 106 people and infected thousands in China.

According to a source, the actor, 49, allegedly made the donation to the Wuhan Benevolent General Association, in order to purchase medical resources to fight against the spread of the virus.

He’s Not The Only One Either

On Friday (24 January), the Siyuan Poverty Alleviation Fund posted on Weibo that Huang Xiaoming and Angelababy have donated 200,000 yuan (~SGD$39,000) to the cause.

The money’s intended to fund the purchase of masks for medical staff in Wuhan.

Huang has since acknowledged the post, and added his own comment to it:

“Medical staff are the heroes in our hearts.”

Meanwhile, Chinese tech firms have also pledged millions as they join the fight. According to South China Morning Post, Qihoo 360 has pledged to donate 15 million yuan in medical resources, while AI firm iFlyTek stated that it has donated 10 million yuan and 500,000 yuan worth of medical supplies.

Wuhan Virus

The Wuhan Virus has been spreading rapidly and seems to be showing no signs of stopping just yet. Having claimed a death toll of 106, the virus has infected thousands in China as the city of Wuhan was forced to lock down in light of the calamity.

Singapore has, at the current time, seven confirmed cases. All the afflicted personnel are Chinese Nationals from Hubei.
