It seems that wherever women go, they are in danger of creeps assaulting or behaving inappropriately with them.

Whether it’s in a cab, on the train, at home, or at the workplace, women have been taken advantage of in almost every place you can think of.

In this instance, the victim was simply trying to get a job.

71YO Molested New Hire During a Lunch Meeting Instead of Coaching Her

On 1 Oct 2019, a 32-year-old woman met with the general manager of a private school for an interview for a position at the school.

The 71-year-old man decided to hire her, and made arrangements to meet her for lunch two days later, before she would start her new job.

This is when things took a left turn.

During the lunch, the man asked why he was unable to contact her on one of her phone numbers, and she explained that she had failed to pay her phone bill, and that her line had been disconnected.

A normal response to this would be “Oh, I see”.

Instead, the 71-year-old held the woman’s hands and offered to pay the phone bill for her. He told her he liked her and rubbed the woman’s back from her bra strap down to her lower waist over her clothing.

The woman said she was already grateful to get a job, and declined his offer.

They then headed to Sim Lim Square, where the man molested her again in the lift. He also offered S$150 to her to pay her bills.

The woman declined at first but eventually gave in as he insisted.

When they were leaving the mall, the man reached out to hold the woman’s hands again, but she pulled away this time, saying she was not comfortable with it.

At this point, the woman’s disinterest and discomfort were evident, and the 71-year-old should have stopped harassing her.

But a few moments later, he tried holding her hands again, and when she pulled them away, he turned her towards him and kissed her on the lips.

He said he liked her and wouldn’t hurt her. The woman didn’t respond to him.

Before kissing her, he also said suggested that they could hold hands in a private place, which the woman didn’t respond to.

Later that day, the woman signed an employment contract because she needed a job.

Manager Pleads Guilty

Yesterday (8 Sep), the 71-year-old pleaded guilty to two charges of molestation.

As the prosecution pointed out, the woman at no point consented to hold hands or being kissed.

She made a police report that same day at 7.30pm.

The man is expected to return to court on 15 Sep for sentencing.

The identity of the man and details about the school cannot be made known due to a gag order to protect the victim’s identity.

If guilty, the man could face up to two years in jail or a fine for each charge. He cannot be canned as he’s above the age of 50.
