But a new theatre in JB might change all that.
Luxury cinema
Emperor Cinemas, a famous cinema operator in Hong Kong, recently opened a new cinema at R&F Mall in Johor Baharu (JB).
R&F Mall calls it Southeast Asia’s first “luxe cinema” and it’s easy to see why.
Comfy seats and 4k screenings
According to MSNews, each cinema will have a SONY 4K Laser projector system — the first of its kind in Malaysia.
This new technology boasts “ultra-crisp images”, “eye-popping colour”, and “dynamic contrast”.
R&F Mall also claims that its seats are tailor-made for comfort. Sink into these luxurious leather seats as you watch the latest movies in 4k.
Elegant lobbies with marble flooring
Many of us go early to the cinema and end up having to wait. Well, Emperor Cinemas has a lush lobby with comfy seats for all the early birds.

The cushioned benches with soft pillows might just tempt you to take a nap.
With its palatial marble walls and floors, one could confuse this cinema for a five-star hotel.
Unique Menu
Also, if you’re sick of munching on popcorn while watching movies, you can order items like chicken fingers, onion rings, and even dim sum at Emperor Cinemas.
These certainly don’t look like your average cinema menu items.
They also offer a variety of hotdogs with different condiments and sauces, instead of the regular, plain old cinema dog.

10 marks for wrapping the hotdog with onion rings. Not even McDonald’s could have thought of that.
And while you wait for your movie to start, you can munch on your delicious meals at this gorgeous dining area with a stunning view.
