If you’re a fan of Kevin Kwan novels or Bling Empire and you find yourself often indulging in tales of opulence and near-sinful abundance, you’ll be pleased to know that Singapore has been crowned with the coveted title of Asia’s top choice for luxury homes.
That’s right, all that glitters may not always be gold, but simply a little red dot.
So, what exactly about our country has tickled the fancy of the Crazy Rich Asians? Read on to find out.
Asia’s Richest Crown S’pore As Top Choice for Luxury Homes in the Region
According to ST, Singapore is one of the most desirable locations for people to buy investment homes in.
This can be attributed to our sparkling reputation as a safe haven, which has been further enhanced through our successful containment of the COVID-19 pandemic, as well as the government’s numerous measures that have been rolled out to support businesses affected by the virus.
According to Mr Nicholas Keong, head of residential international project marketing at Knight Frank Singapore, Singapore has been chosen as the top country in Asia for luxury homes by the super-rich in Asia, just after the UK, US and Australia.
Additionally, he noted that home buyers from India, Japan, Malaysia and South Korea considered Singapore as one of their top five locations when thinking about purchasing investment homes overseas.
Investors were particularly attracted by the way that the government managed to effectively control the spread of the virus and support businesses during the pandemic.
This bodes well for luxury home prices this year—26% of those surveyed indicated that they planned to purchase a new home in 2021, an uptick from 21% in the financial wreck that was 2020.
Luxury home prices in Singapore had been badly hit by the pandemic. Pieces decreased from 0.2% and sales dipped 20% because of a lack of fresh launches and strict travel restrictions which drove away foreign investors.
In spite of all this, Singapore retains its attractiveness due to the stability of its political climate as well as comprehensive measures to prevent the recurrence of a COVID-19 outbreak.
S’pore Remains Top Choice for East Asian Expatriates as Most Livable City
Not only are we popular with the ultra-wealthy, but we’re also well-loved by East Asian expatriates.
In a study conducted by ECA International, it was found that Singapore managed to retain its top spot as the most livable city for East Asian expatriates for the 15th year in a row.
The study assessed East Asian expatriates’ quality of life in over 490 locations, and Singapore emerged as the grand victor.
