This year isn’t a great year for most people.
But for M1? It’s not just a bad year, it’s an unforgettable one.
This year, M1 was slapped with a S$400,000 fine because of disruptions to their fibre broadband in May 2020, smack dab in the middle of Singapore’s circuit breaker.
About 18,000 customers were affected by a 23-hour disruption on 12 May 2020.
And the next day (13 May 2020), about 20,000 users were affected by another 6-hour disruption.
With such an eventful year, the management of M1 is probably hoping that the rest of the year will proceed smoothly.
Unfortunately, that was not to be.
M1 Users Reported Disruption This Morning
On 21 Dec 2020, unhappy M1 users started flooding the downdetector website again.
One asked M1 Singapore to buck up because they’re affecting everyone working from home while another reported how the downtime made him drop a call.
In total, downdetector received more than 12,000 reports on the downtime this morning.
Meanwhile, M1’s Facebook page wasn’t spared either and at about 10.30am, people started complaining about the downtime on their Facebook page.
The complaints come from many areas, including Jurong, Tampines, Bishan, Simei, Bukit Panjang and more.
The telco responded at 12.15pm and said that they have resolved the issue.
Users who are still experiencing difficulties connecting to the network, M1 says, should power off and on their devices.
“Do not remove any cables on ONT and router devices,” it was added.
This wasn’t the first time a disruption happened to M1 users either.
They apologise for the inconvenience caused and thanked customers for their “patience”.
2nd Time in This Month
Back on 4 Dec, M1’s fibre and fixed voice services had a few hours’ downtime across Singapore.
Then, M1 had asked customers to switch to their local data bundle and the excess data usage charges will be waived.
With the disruption on 21 Dec, this makes it the fourth time M1 has had disruption to its internet services this year.
