MacRitchie TreeTop Walk Closed Since August & Will Reopen in May 2021

Even though exercising was allowed during the circuit breaker, you told your parents you didn’t want to risk infecting them.

“I value my health yes, but I love and value you guys much more, and I’d never do anything to jeopardise your health”.

In reality, you were just really lazy, and found it physically impossible to get off your couch, which explained why you ordered so many adult diapers.

Now, however, with infections dwindling, there’s no excuse not to get out there and work up a sweat.

If you’re planning a nature trail, though, there’s one place you won’t be able to visit for quite a while.

MacRitchie TreeTop Walk Closed Since August & Will Reopen in May 2021

According to an MS News report, NParks has closed the TreeTop Walk at MacRitchie Reservoir for maintenance works.

Few were aware of the closure even though it took effect on 11 Aug, over two months ago.

Props to the team in MS News for spotting that!

Two other paths – the Pierce Track and part of Petaling Boardwalk (marked in brown) – have been closed as well.

The maintenance works are expected to be completed in May 2021, so the closure will last for quite some time.

Advised to Use Sime Track

Fortunately, some parts of the nature trail are still open to the public.

NParks has advised visitors to use the Sime Track, which is marked in blue, instead of the tracks closed for maintenance works.

NParks Advisory

On 3 Oct, NParks released an advisory on its website concerning the use of its gardens, parks, and nature reserves.

It urged residents heading to these places to go in groups of not more than 5, in line with the country’s safe distancing measures.

It also reminded visitors to observe a safe distance of at least one metre between members of the group, as well as with other groups.

Social and recreational activities such as having picnics, photography, taichi, kite-flying, or playing ball games are permitted, but visitors are required to wear masks at all times, unless they’re engaging in strenuous exercises or consuming food and drinks.

Moreover, those engaging in sports and physical exercises should ensure that a safe distance of at least 2 metres between individuals is observed.

NParks added that some of their parks, carparks, and other facilities could be closed temporarily to create space for safe distancing or for maintenance works.

So, you should probably head to your favourite hiking spot before it’s closed to the public.
