Major Fire at Tuas Industrial Building Extinguished by SCDF After Hour-Long Battle

A fire broke out at a two-storey industrial building located at 10 Tuas Avenue 18A on 8 Mar 2025 evening, triggering an immediate response from the Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF).

Here’s what happened.

SCDF Swift Response to Tuas Industrial Inferno

The blaze, which was reported at 7.30 PM, involved paint-associated products and spread across an area measuring approximately 30m by 15m on the first floor of the industrial structure.

SCDF officers arrived promptly at the scene and began firefighting operations.

They deployed four water jets strategically around the affected area to contain and combat the flames.

The firefighting effort lasted about an hour before SCDF personnel successfully extinguished the fire, preventing it from spreading to other parts of the building or neighboring properties.

Six individuals had evacuated from the premises prior to SCDF’s arrival. No one was trapped inside the building during the incident.

Paramedics on site conducted health assessments and found that two people had suffered from smoke inhalation.

However, both individuals declined further medical attention and chose not to be transported to the hospital.

Aftermath and Investigation of Tuas Avenue Industrial Fire

Following the successful extinguishing of the main fire, SCDF implemented additional safety measures at the site.

They deployed an unmanned firefighting machine to continue operations in potentially hazardous areas.

Water jets were also used to damp down the affected sections of the building.

The building at 10 Tuas Avenue 18A houses Ava-Chem Industrial, a company that specializes in cleaning and waste management services.

The fire affected the ground-floor operations area, where paint products were stored.

The industrial property is situated in the Tuas industrial zone, an area with numerous manufacturing and processing facilities.

SCDF officials have launched a formal investigation into the cause of the fire.

As of the latest update, authorities have not released information about the potential origin or specific trigger of the blaze.

No structural damage assessment has been made public yet, though the affected area represents a significant portion of the ground floor of the building.
