Officers believe he planned to kill his mother but was interrupted by his elder brother during the act.
Both the mother and elder brother died from multiple stab wounds. The youngest brother was injured after refusing to leave the house during the attack.
Malacca Police Chief Datuk Dzulkhairi Mukhtar confirmed there was no sign of forced entry. The case is believed to have resulted from a family dispute.
Police said the suspect held a long-standing grudge against his mother and was unhappy about being frequently scolded while preparing for the Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) exam.
