A three-month-old baby boy died after being pinned under his father’s arm at their home in Kampung Perigi Hang Tuah, Malacca.
The tragedy occurred on 19 Jun 2025, when the 35-year-old father suffered a fatal heart attack while lying beside the infant.
Muhammad Nur Daniel Nuruleffendy was found trapped beneath the arm of his father, Nuruleffendy Ibrahim, who was unresponsive when his wife Azura Abdul Malik returned home at about 9:30am.

Heart Attack Claims Father’s Life While Holding Son
Nuruleffendy Ibrahim had complained of chest pain the day before his death but refused to seek medical attention. His sister Masturadiana, 33, said her brother was believed to have been dead for two to three hours before his wife discovered him lying on his back on the bed.
The father, who was the fourth of seven siblings, had no known serious illnesses apart from leg pain and gout. Police preliminary investigations suggest he suffered a sudden heart attack while holding his son, causing his arm to press against the baby and suffocate the child.
Azura had left home early at 6am to send their two elder children, aged 16 and 15, to school.
She had just returned to work that day after three months of maternity leave. After a brief stop at the office, she headed home to take their youngest child to the clinic for his three-month immunisation.
Emergency Response and Investigation
Masturadiana was at her house, located opposite her brother’s home, when the tragedy unfolded. At around 9:30 a.m., her sister-in-law knocked repeatedly on her door, pleading for help.
“She said the baby was unconscious and had turned blue after being pinned under my brother’s arm. I immediately told her to take the baby to the hospital and asked the others to call an ambulance to check on my brother,” Masturadiana said.
Bukit Katil Fire and Rescue Station operations commander Mohd Supian Md Dali confirmed that they received an emergency call from the hospital at 9:58am. A male victim in his 30s had died at the scene, while his baby passed away while receiving treatment at the hospital.
The hospital initially requested a team to inspect the house for possible gas leaks. The Health Ministry also asked the fire department to deploy their Hazardous Materials special rescue team due to concerns about potential liquefied petroleum gas leaks at the residence.

Following an investigation, authorities concluded that the man had likely died of a heart attack. No gas leak was detected at the scene, and assistance from the Hazmat Unit was subsequently called off.
