Malaysian police arrested a 40-year-old Singaporean man on 8 June 2025 at 6:20pm over a road rage incident that went viral on social media.
The arrest was carried out in Johor Bahru by officers from the Criminal Investigation Division of the Johor Bahru North police headquarters.
The incident occurred on 7 Jun 2025 along Jalan Sutera Tanjung 8/4 at Taman Sutera Utama in Skudai, Johor.

A Facebook user named Vicky Sing uploaded video footage of the confrontation on 7 Jun 2025, which showed the driver of a Singapore-registered Toyota Altis kicking the car.
Traffic Dispute Escalates Into Physical Confrontation
The altercation began when Sing and her boyfriend encountered traffic congestion. A car ahead of them was moving erratically, repeatedly stopping and starting. Many vehicles, including the couple’s, honked at it.
Behind them, a Singapore-registered Toyota Altis kept honking at the couple. The driver then pulled up alongside their vehicle and asked why they had not moved forward.
Sing’s boyfriend explained that there was another car blocking their path ahead. The Singaporean driver responded: “Don’t think you’re so great just cause you drive a BMW”.
The situation escalated when the Singaporean driver exited his vehicle to confront Sing’s boyfriend. He used his body to hit him and spat on him during the confrontation.
When Sing’s boyfriend suggested they could go to the police station together to settle their conflict, the Singaporean driver flew into a rage. He began kicking their BMW, causing visible damage to the vehicle.
Police Investigation and Court Proceedings
The couple filed a police report at Taman Ungku Tun Aminah Police Station around 3pm on 7 Jun 2025.

According to the police statement, a 31-year-old Malaysian man made a police report claiming that a person in a Singapore-registered Toyota Altis honked his car horn at him. The Singaporean was dissatisfied that the man’s BMW had allegedly blocked his path in the Taman Tun Aminah area.
Johor Bahru North police chief Assistant Commissioner Balveer Singh Mahindar Singh confirmed that several items were seized during the arrest. Background checks revealed the suspect has no prior criminal record, and his urine screening test returned negative results.
According to China Press, the man was brought to Johor Bahru Court on 9 Jun 2025 for the remand application process. He wore a purple detention outfit and black slip-on shoes, reportedly covering his face with his right hand when he spotted the media crew outside the court.
Police are investigating the case under Section 426 of the Penal Code for mischief and damage of property, and Section 509 of the Penal Code for utterance of insult. The charges relate to using words or gestures intended to insult the modesty of a person.
