An 18-year-old motorcyclist beat a 60-year-old man to death with a metal rod in Kampung Buloh Ipoh, Tanah Merah, Kelantan, on 19 Jun 2025.
The victim, Shamsuddin Mohamad, died from serious injuries at the scene after the brutal assault at around 5:30pm.
Fatal Attack in Kelantan Village
The teenager attacked Mr Shamsuddin behind a convenience store using a metal baton believed to have been purchased online.
Mr Shamsuddin’s younger sister, 40-year-old Hasnah Ghazali, said her brother was chatting with a friend in a shed opposite the grocery store before the incident.
After the friend left, the suspect approached Mr Shamsuddin and invited him to go to the convenience store.
The teenager then suddenly struck the elderly man in the face with the metal baton.
Teen Held Grudge Over Previous Safety Scoldings
The blow to Mr Shamsuddin’s face caused him to collapse and lose consciousness immediately.
A passerby witnessed the violent attack as it unfolded.
Ms Hasnah was alerted to the incident at approximately 5:45pm and rushed to the scene.
She arrived to find her brother already dead, with his head covered in blood.
The suspect reportedly held a grudge against Mr Shamsuddin, who had previously reprimanded him on multiple occasions for riding his motorcycle dangerously in the village area.
Tanah Merah District Police Chief Supt Mohd Haki Hasbullah confirmed the incident and said investigations are ongoing.
