M’sian Couple’s House in JB Broken Into Twice as Couple is Stuck in S’pore to Work

In Singapore, if you were to leave your home unattended for a few weeks while you holiday in some other country, people breaking and entering into your home while you’re away isn’t one factor you’d consider.

Partially because you’re living so close to your neighbours that anything wrong would’ve been spotted immediately.

But in Malaysia, it’s a different story.

Here’s what happened to a couple who were stuck in Singapore for work since the borders between Singapore and Malaysia closed.

On 18 Oct 2020, Facebook user Tan Chew Xiang shared a horrifying incident on the social media platform.

Apparently, a Malaysian couple who were working in Singapore had their home broken into not once, but twice while they were out of the country.

A video of the aftermath was shared as well.

According to a Facebook post by one of the couple’s neighbours, the house might be broken into the third time soon.

The neighbour did not have the contact details of the owner and took to Facebook, hoping to alert them to what’s going on with their home.

Not only was the house left in a mess after the burglars tossed everything out while searching for valuables, their car, a white Proton Satria, was also taken.

The owner of the house is allegedly a chef working in Singapore and has been away from home for half a year.

It was added that their neighbour has made a police report on their behalf.

Partied In The Home For A Few Days

According to Tan’s post, the metal gate had its lock cut out.

Also, there were traces of the burglars not just breaking and entering, but also staying for a few days to party while looting the home.

They had apparently peed and took a dump within the house, and traces of substance abuse could be spotted too.

Food was also spotted strewn on the floor of the home.

All in all, not a good thing to know, especially when you’ve only had two days to make a decision on whether you’ll continue to work in Singapore or return home to Malaysia.

The owners are now aware of the breaking and entering of their home.

Owner’s Brother Spotted At The Scene

According to Tan, the man in the white t-shirt is the owner’s brother.

The image was taken when the brother was allegedly giving an interview to a reporter from China Press.

The brother expressed the owners’ gratitude to the neighbours because even though the damage has been done, the neighbours had banded together to help out even though they don’t know the owners well.

Not only did they lodge a police report on their behalf, but they also took the initiative to reach out on social media, hoping to inform them about the happenings, as well as lock up their door to prevent further entries.

It also turns out that one of the neighbours, who had to return with his wife to her hometown for childbirth, also had his home broken into.

The post ends off with Tan asking other Malaysians to be careful, and if they have to leave their home unattended for an extended period of time, to make sure that no valuables like jewellery and money are left behind.
