A Malaysian woman apologised after spending RM1 million (~S$303,000) on her daughter’s 11th birthday party.
Content creator and entrepreneur Farhana Zahra posted a TikTok video of the party that has since attracted 1.9 million views. According to her Instagram, she is the founder of two health brands, Susu Momegojes and Coffee Es-Cream Vavavoom.

In the video, she wrote: “Forgive mama, this is all I could afford to give you. I only spent 1 million ringgit for this birthday.”

Luxury Gifts and Grand Celebration for 11-Year-Old
The video opens with the family of five descending a grand staircase, all dressed in coordinated black outfits. Her daughter wore a shimmery long black dress with a sparkly crown and arrived at the party hand in hand with her mother in matching black.
They stepped onto a stage outside the house and sang “Happy Birthday” before unveiling the girl’s gifts in front of their guests.
She gifted her daughter a Rolex watch, a pink iMac, and a Toyota Vellfire. The Toyota Vellfire is a seven-seater high-end MPV. The vehicle came with a car plate with her name: “Lydia Zahra.”
Farhana shared that she tries to fulfil her daughter’s wishes almost every day and was unsure what else to give her for her birthday. She hoped that this “little gift” would bring her joy.
Farhana also surprised her daughter’s former driver with a Mercedes-Benz.
Mixed Reactions to Extravagant Spending
The TikTok video sparked controversy for being tone-deaf and for humblebragging.
Many criticised her for flaunting her wealth and being tone-deaf. They said most people do not have that amount for basic necessities.
Some accused the mother of throwing the lavish party more for herself than her daughter. They noted the lack of child-friendly activities at the event.

Others pointed out the impracticality of the gifts, especially the luxury car, given that the 11-year-old is still too young to drive.
There were concerns that showering a child with such extravagant gifts could lead to entitlement and unrealistic expectations later in life.
Some users defended Farhana. One commented that any mother would give their child the world if they had the means to do so. Some said they would have done the same had they been in her shoes.
