The Singapore Food Agency (SFA) is back at it again. And this time, they’re targetting bottled mineral water.
Specifically any of these brands.
Rofina.
Sukahati.
And Still.
Most commonly found in ValuDollar, coffee shops and small mamak shops.
Malae Mineral Water
According to the SFA, the import of bottled water and mineral water from Malae Mineral Water is banned with immediate effect.
They said that they’ve detected the bacteria, Pseudomonas aeruginosa, in recent consignments.
“In view of the detection, the import of all bottled drinking and mineral water from Malee Mineral Water Sdn Bhd is not permitted, with immediate effect.”
Pseudomonas aeruginosa
Generally found in soil, water, skin flor and most man-made environments around the world, this bad boy can cause infections in humans with weakened immune systems.
In other words, it’s like a bully, hitting the weaker people.
However, if you’re an 11/10 (in terms of health), you don’t have to worry so much because it “rarely causes serious diseases” in healthy people.
What Has ValuDollar Got To Do With Anything
SFA specifically said they told Radha Exports, the importer of the Malae Mineral Water, to recall the implicated products.
Now, if you’re wondering, why ValuDollar?
That’s because Radha Exports founded DD Private Limited back in 2005, and DD Private Limited is the parent company of ValuDollar.
And that’s the secret behind ValuDollar’s cheaper prices in Singapore, which you can read here.
Second M’sia Mineral Water To Be Recalled
This is weeks after the SFA recalled bottled water from Starfresh.
Similar to Malae Mineral Water, the bacteria, Pseudomonas aeruginosa, was detected during routine sampling.
The affected products are the 1.5l Starfresh bottles of water expiring on May 13, 2021, and the 500ml Starfresh bottles of water expiring on May 11, 2021.
And the importer of both the mineral water in both cases is Radha Exports.
So if you happen to be holding on to a bottle of water from either Starfresh or Malae Mineral Water (read: Rofina, Still or Sukahati), you might want to just toss it away and go for a Daisani or Ice Mountain.
They might be a tad bit more expensive but hey, it’s still cheaper than going to a doctor, right.
Anyway, it’s nice to see that there’s an agency in Singapore so gung-ho on making sure our food supplies stay safe, eh? #JustSaying
Over in TikTok, there’s a drama involving property agents that’s caused by us. Here’s what happened:
