20YO Pleaded Guilty to Making 3 Girls Pregnant; 2 Were Underage

The age of consent for sexual activity exists for a reason: it prevents people from taking advantage of children and young teenagers, who are too young and not mature enough consent to such acts. 

Despite this and the harm that it can cause, some people engage in sexual acts with underage partners for their own gratification.

And it can sometimes end in an unwanted pregnancy.

20YO Man Impregnates 3 Girls; 2 Were Underage

In January 2019, a then-19-year-old man became acquainted with a girl through social media.

She initiated contact and they began chatting on WhatsApp. There, he asked her how old she was, and she said 12.

At this point, he should have immediately ceased contact with the girl, and certainly not met her.

But he did the exact opposite.

The young girl went over to his house and they had sex in his bedroom. He did not use a condom. They then left the place to meet his friends.

Though it was not clear how they found out, the authorities began investigating the young man for underage sex.

Still, the 19-year-old met the girl once more at HDB block near her home and had sex at a staircase landing. He did not use a condom again.

Ten weeks later, the girl found out she was pregnant. She got an abortion a few months later. A paternity test showed that he was highly likely to be the father.

Despite the pregnancy scare, the young man initiated sex again a month later, and once again did not wear a condom.

But that’s not all he did, as he impregnated two other girls as well. 

Two years earlier, he got to know a 15-year-old through mutual friends when he was 17. They dated for 7 months and had sex twice or three times a month during their relationship.

She found out she was pregnant with his child in early 2018 and is presently raising the child.

The authorities came to know about the underage sex after the National University Hospital informed them about an underage pregnancy in March 2018.

In 2019, the 19-year-old also started dating an 18-year-old girl. Their relationship lasted for around a year.

In Jan last year, the couple fought outside his flat when he did not want her to leave, and he ended up slapping her cheek and kicking her lower back.

She too, discovered she was pregnant with his child in March last year, and gave birth in July.

Pleaded Guilty to Charges, May Be Given Probation

Yesterday (13 July), the 20-year-old pleaded guilty to four charges of sexual penetration of a minor under 16 and one charge of voluntarily causing hurt.

Another 17 similar charges will be taken into consideration for sentencing next month.

He cannot be named as he committed some of the offences when he was under 18 years old.

The young man will be assessed to see if he is suitable for probation or reformative training.

If sentenced to probation, he could continue with his studies or employment while serving his sentence.

Reformative training is a harsher punishment than probation, and is given to offenders younger than 21. Offenders are detained in a structured environment with an emphasis on rehabilitation.
