Man Allegedly Eat Fruits Every Day For Dinner For A Month, Diagnosed With Diabetes Shortly After

I‘m pretty sure that everybody believes that fruits are at the top of the list when it comes to being healthy.

In fact, even Health authorities recommend the food pyramid.

So when you said you want to lose weight, people will recommend having fruits for snacks.

In fact, you’re thinking: if having fruits for snacks is healthy? How about having it as a meal?

Well, better not.

Or what happens to this man will happen to you too.

Man Decide To Have Fruits For Dinner For A Month Straight

A 21-year-old man, identified as Xiao Mao, from Hangzhou, China, decided to eat fruits for dinner because he was lazy to cook after going home from work.

After all, fruits are healthy, right?

So for one month straight, he had normal meals for breakfast and lunch, but simply ate fruits for dinner to chase away his hunger pangs.

He’d go for fruits like bananas and cantaloupes to fill his stomach.

However, That’s When Things Took a Turn For The Worst

After around one month of his “fruit” diet, he felt something wrong with his body.

He suffered from:

  • Dizziness
  • Nausea
  • Dry Mouth
  • And more

Worried, he decided to visit the hospital to seek help and was put through several tests.

A Type-1 Diabetes Condition

That’s when he was found to have blood sugar readings that went past the roof.

His blood sugar readings were recorded at 79.98 mol/L, about 10 times higher than a healthier person.

To make things worse, his blood was tested to be severely acidic and he was diagnosed with diabetic ketoacidosis.

What happens is that his body broke down fats too fast and turned his blood acidic.

He was quickly admitted to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) and his condition stabilised after three days.

It was added that the fruits he went for are high in sugar content.

In other words, too much of a good thing isn’t a good thing, after all.

Just To Add On: Fruit Juices Aren’t Healthier Options

I’m pretty sure you’ve known at least one person who said this: I don’t go for soft drinks. I’ll have fruit juice instead.

But did you know that fruit juices aren’t as good as you’ve thought?

Even all-natural fruit juices without sweet syrup.

Here’s the truth – even if it is freshly pressed, 100 per cent juice is still a little more than sugar water. Shocking, eh?

Sure, it is reasonable to think that juice is healthy since it origins from fruit. However, fruit juice leaves behind some of the healthiest parts of the fruit behind. This includes the skin on apples, the seeds in raspberries and the membranes holding orange segments together.

They are where most of the fibre, antioxidants, phytonutrients, vitamins and minerals are hiding. Yet fruit juice has none of the above.

When calories are drunk instead of being eaten, our brain does not get the same signal that we are full as compared to from a solid food.

And the most ironic thing? We actually consume far more calories in a fruit juice than the fruit itself.

We have to recognise that juice is a treat and not a daily necessity that belongs in our breakfast menu or a gym workout.

So please, follow the old advice: have everything in moderation.

Though we won’t mind having lots of money.
