Two women in Sengkang ended up chasing a man they said had allegedly been following them, after what began as a trip to get ice cream took an unsettling turn.
The incident was first posted on TikTok on 29 August by a woman who goes by “muahchee” online. A video was subsequently shared by the Singapore Incidents Facebook page on 30 August.
According to Mothership, the women eventually made their way to Block 216A Compassvale Drive, opposite Compass One.
Man Allegedly Kept Walking Around Them
Muahchee told Mothership that she and her friend had bought ice cream from a supermarket in Sengkang before finding a bench at a nearby HDB estate to sit and chat.
While they were there, they allegedly noticed a balding man wearing a grey T-shirt repeatedly walking around them.
She said the man eventually approached them and asked: “Can I pay you to do something for me?”
It was not clear from the videos or reports what he wanted them to do.
Muahchee said her friend repeatedly told the man to leave, but he allegedly remained and continued asking them for help.
After he eventually walked away, the pair decided to leave as well because they were worried that he might return.
They Then Allegedly Spotted Him Hiding Near The HDB Blocks
According to Muahchee, she subsequently spotted someone watching them from the car park as they were leaving.
She alleged that the same man then moved towards another HDB block and hid behind its pillars.
Footage reported by Stomp shows the women noticing a man crouching behind a pillar, with one of them wanting to approach him while her friend sounded more hesitant.
The friend eventually went towards the man while holding her phone.
Stomp reported that the man emerged from behind a pillar and raised his hands before walking away. When the woman continued approaching him, he started running.
He could be heard saying “I’m sorry” as he fled, while the woman gave chase.
The women did not manage to catch up with him.
Muahchee also told Mothership that she suspected the man had been trying to film the pair at one point because she saw his phone directed towards them. This was her account, and the available reports do not independently establish that he had recorded them.
No Police Report Was Made
When Mothership asked Muahchee whether the women had made a police report over the incident, she said they had not.
Explaining her friend’s reaction, she said her friend “just wanted to terrorise him”.
As there was no reported police investigation into the encounter, the claims that the man had been following or filming the women remain allegations based on their account and the videos posted online.
