And also, there are some real nutcases out there.

But sometimes one will outdo the rest and shock us all.

Ate a live cat

A video of a man eating a live cat in Indonesia has gone viral and horrified viewers all over the world.

Many viewers assumed the man was eating a carcass of a freshly-killed-cat, but he later admitted that the cat was still alive when he started eating it, revealed Astro Awani.

Gruesome content

In the video, the man is seen taking a bite out of a cat’s carcass as the cat’s blood and intestines spill out.

When several bystanders started filming the horrific act, the man threatened to “finish” them too if didn’t stop filming.

What would compel a man to commit such a grisly act? Those who shared the video surmise that it was part of a black magic ritual.

Goody Feed will not share the video here because it is extremely graphic.

Police investigation

It is believed that the gruesome act took place around the busy Kemayoran traditional market in Jakarta.

The police from the local precinct say they have launched an investigation.

Syaiful Anwar, the Kemayoran Police Chief, said, “We want to find him first and ask him why he ate that cat. We don’t know why he ate the cat, whether it’s because he’s mentally challenged or not. But we have not been able to find the man everywhere we looked… He’s not in Kemayoran anymore”.

Harsher punishments needed

However, according to Coconutseven if the man were caught, it’s unlikely he would face severe criminal sanctions.

In Indonesia’s Criminal Code, animal abuse that leads to the death of an animal is only punishable by up to nine months’ imprisonment, as well as IDR300 (S$0.03) fine (???).

The law was introduced during the Dutch colonial era, which explains the minuscule fine.

Animal activists in Indonesia have long called for a revision to the antiquated law to deter animal abusers and stop animal cruelty, but they lack legal backing.

Just like cockroaches, sickos will always be around. But we should make sure to punish them severely if they choose to act on their vile impulses.

Animals like dogs and cats are sweet creatures who often make our stressful life on Earth more pleasurable. They love us unconditionally, so let’s treat them with the same love and respect.
