Getting caught doing something wrong is no doubt embarrassing, but a certain thief made it even worse for himself by giving some terrible excuses.
Unfortunately for him, it was all caught on camera and shown to the Internet.
Realised Bike was Stolen
In a post uploaded to Facebook group Sg Chinese Community on Sunday (22 May), a delivery rider shared his experience with a bicycle thief.
At around 10.30am, he had left his bicycle unlocked at Paya Lebar Quarter entrance before heading into the mall to collect a food delivery order.
10 minutes later, he returned to find that his bicycle had been stolen.
As he had just collected an ice cream order, he had no choice but to deliver it by foot. Fortunately, the location was nearby.
Wanted to Go Home with the Bike
After completing the order, he went back to search for his bicycle and found it parked in front of the MOS Burger at Paya Lebar Square.
Attached to the phone holder was a phone that was not his, so the rider decided to wait and confront the thief.
Lo and behold, the thief returned and thus ensued a series of the lamest excuses you would have ever heard.
The rider confronted the man when he came back and recorded the whole interaction.
Throughout the video, he could be heard saying, “I’m not trying to steal, I want to go home.”
When the rider asked if he was going to take his bicycle and go home, the man did not respond. Clearly, he had not thought out his excuses well.
Later, he corrected himself, saying, “Wait, wait, brother wait. I want to take your bicycle go home but I busy already, I tired.”
If excuses could be graded, this would definitely score an F.
Finally, the man tried to get out of the situation by saying he wanted to sleep, before taking his phone and the rider’s helmet.

Stole Another Rider’s Order
Eventually, the rider decided to let the thief go.
However, that all changed when the man opened the thermal bag, revealing a bag of food from Burger King which had been stolen from another rider.
The rider then decided to make a police report and made the thief return the food back to the restaurant.
As he followed the man back to Burger King, he continued to berate and question the man as to why he wanted to steal his bike.
To which, the man had the audacity to scold the rider back with Malay vulgarities.
The rider claimed that during the argument, the man invited him to a “1 v 1 fight” at the back of Paya Lebar Square which he rejected.
When he tried to call the police, the man then turned aggressive, pushing him, punching his head and pinching his upper arm.
