A 40-year-old man faces court charges today (14 May 2025) after allegedly assaulting two women with a metal rod in Tampines earlier this week.
Attempted Armed Robbery in Tampines Residential Area
The incident took place along Tampines Street 22 on 12 May 2025 at approximately 1:30pm.
According to a statement from the Singapore Police Force released on 13 May, the suspect had demanded valuables from two female victims, aged 30 and 82.

When both women refused to hand over their belongings, the man allegedly attacked them with a metal rod.
As a result of the assault, both victims suffered injuries and were taken conscious to the hospital for treatment.
The police were alerted to the case shortly after the incident occurred.
Swift Police Action Leads to Arrest Within Three Hours
Officers from Bedok Police Division and Police Operations Command Centre quickly launched an investigation after a report was filed.
Using images captured by police and surveillance cameras in the area, the authorities managed to establish the identity of the suspect.
The 40-year-old man was arrested within three hours after the police report was lodged.
The metal rod believed to have been used in the attack was seized as a case exhibit during the arrest.
The man will be charged in court on 14 May 2025 with the offence of attempted armed robbery with hurt.

If convicted, he faces a jail term ranging from five to 20 years, and will receive at least 12 strokes of the cane.
