Man Cleanses Negative Energy with Leaves & Water Along HDB Corridor

We’ve all heard stories of neighbours from hell who you just can’t seem to get along with.

Some are even often inconsiderate towards their fellow flat dwellers and are unable to respect any differences that may arise.

However, sometimes people may just be misunderstood, and what you think may not be all that meets the eye.

Get you a neighbour who will help you cleanse negative energy away, instead of being the source of it.

Neighbour Spotted Flicking Water With Leaves

One netizen shared a video of a neighbour of theirs doing something questionable outside their unit on the Complaint Singapore Facebook group on 13 September.

An old man, who was believed to be around 60 years old, could be seen dipping a bunch of leaves into a cup of water before sprinkling the water onto the netizen’s door.

After that, he continued doing his little ritual along the rest of the corridor and the lift lobby, spraying droplets of water everywhere meticulously.

His actions were filmed by the netizen’s CCTV and uploaded in a 20-second video, with them describing the situation on the post.

It can be rather confusing as to what the man’s motives for doing so were, right?

Soon after, netizens were also divided in the comments section discussing what the old man was trying to do, as the Facebook page was typically reserved for posts of a negative nature.

Just Cleansing Negative Energy Away

Unlike what some people unfamiliar with the ritual may have believed, the old man actually did so with good intentions.

It is common in Chinese beliefs to cleanse an area of any lingering negative energy, especially when the Hungry Ghost Festival ended just last week.

Most netizens were quick to explain that the old man was probably just helping his neighbours to cleanse the area.

Some also noticed that the netizen who posted the video was staying at the end of the corridor, facing a long stretch of units, which will especially be prone to unwanted visitors lingering outside.

And by that, I don’t mean your mother-in-law or Safe Distancing Ambassadors.

Maybe the old man saw something there that he wanted to chase away, too.

Many praised the old man for his kind actions, saying that it was difficult to find someone with such a kind heart in looking out for their neighbours.

They also felt that the original poster should be grateful towards him instead of posting the good deed on such a platform.

Yet, there were still a minority of commenters who felt that it was still an unwanted gesture that could have clashed with the original poster’s religious beliefs.

While we may never know what compelled the old man to do so, at least he seemed to be lending a helping hand to his fellow neighbours in this tough time.
