Recently, traffic in Singapore has been a nightmare due to unexpected jams.
You might think it’s because of the unpredictable weather, with constant rain in the first half of January, or perhaps the recent Chinese New Year holidays.
However, the real reason for the recent traffic chaos wasn’t any of those.
A brawl broke out on the PIE, causing major traffic congestion for other drivers.
A 39-year-old man was arrested for drink-driving on Friday (31 January 2025) after he was involved in an accident and physical altercation with another driver.
1 Man Arrested for Drink-Driving Following Viral Fight at PIE
Let’s take you through how the fight unfolded.
The two men allegedly first collided on the Pan Island Expressway (PIE).
In footage of the fist fight uploaded on TikTok by user @m_tharan, the two men can be seen arguing in the rightmost lane of the three-lane road before things escalated into a physical fight, with their cars parked behind them.
The man in white appears to be on the phone, possibly calling someone, when the man in black approaches and throws a punch, causing the phone to fall to the ground.
The man in black can be heard saying, “You don’t want your phone, right?”
A car and a motorcycle cautiously navigate around the pair as they grapple with each other, halting traffic on the highway.
They continue to fight, with the man in white attempting to defend himself against the other.
Towards the end of the video, the man in white retaliates with a punch towards the man in black.
A different angle of the fight was also shared in the Facebook group SGRV FRONT MANSG Road Vigilante.
Police Respond to the Incident
Police were alerted to the accident on Jalan Toa Payoh towards Macpherson Road at approximately 4.45pm on 31 January 2025, the third day of Chinese New Year.
The Singapore Police Force (SPF) reported that a 48-year-old male driver sustained minor injuries but declined hospital treatment.
The 39-year-old male driver involved in the fight was arrested for drink-driving and taken to the hospital for further examination.
He is also under investigation for causing harm voluntarily. Police inquiries are ongoing.
