On 19 May 2025, a 70-year-old man fell from an apartment building in Osaka, Japan, fatally striking a 59-year-old cyclist.
Fatal Fall Results in Two Deaths near Osaka Metro Station
The incident occurred around 11:20 am in an area lined with apartment buildings. A passerby called emergency services (119) after seeing someone fall from a building and hit a cyclist.
Both men were transported to the hospital by emergency personnel while in cardiac arrest.

They were declared dead on arrival.
The 70-year-old man was a resident of the 44-storey building. He was not wearing any shoes at the time of the incident.
The cyclist was a 59-year-old man from Ichihara, approximately seven hours away from Osaka.
The accident happened about 400 meters west of Tenjinbashisuji Rokuchome Station, which serves both the Hankyu and Osaka Metro lines.
Police Investigation Continues as Details Emerge
The impact caused significant damage to the cyclist’s bicycle. Blood stains were found around the damaged bicycle at the scene.
The local police received a report about the matter at around 10:30 am Singapore time. Firefighters were also deployed to the scene where both unconscious men were lying on the ground.
Police are investigating the details of the incident, including the cause of the fall.
