There’s one big difference between a guy and a girl toilet.
This.
While it does help to cut down on the queue time in the toilet, it comes with its own set of challenges.
Namely, the fact that you’re pretty much exposed to other people when you’re peacefully minding your own business.
Ever went into a toilet and see a man using the urinal for a suspiciously long time? Then, you realise that he’s not peeing and his head kept glancing to the left and right?
Clementi uncle, anyone?
The only thing you can do is to take a urinal farther away and get out as soon as possible.
Because for one, you don’t know if he’s really peeing or not (it’s rude to look at people’s d*ck, yeah?) and two, you’re not sure if it’s illegal for him to linger at a urinal.
Guess what? It is.
Illegal, that is, as the following 47-year-old man will prove to you.
Man Target 14-Year-Old Boy In Men’s Toilet
Meet 47-year-old Phang Kok Fui.
On 21 Aug 2018, he felt particularly brave and decide to go further in his toilet adventures at the men’s toilet in Woodlands MRT station.
His target? A 14-year-old schoolboy.
He stood to the right of his target at the urinals and nudged him with his elbow.
When the boy turned to look at him, he looked at the boy’s private part and started performing an obscene act on himself (3 guesses what it is, it probably starts with M and ends with E).
Throughout his performance, he kept nudging the boy with his elbow. *nudgenudgewinkwink*
Then, A Proposition
Finally, the boy was done with his business.
But before he could escape, the 47-year-old man gestured with his head to a cubicle while walking towards it.
The schoolboy left the toilet immediately and reported the incident to the station’s employees.
Escape
One of the station employees went back to the toilet with the student and found Phang still in the toilet.
He apologised to the boy for asking the boy to go into the cubicle with him and fled the scene.
The police were alerted to the incident and the SPF caught the man.
Fined
The man was charged with an obscene act in a public place and pleaded guilty to it.
He was fined $4,000.
However, he could’ve been jailed for up to 3 months, fined or both for performing an obscene act to the annoyance of the victim.
Moral of the Story?
The next time you meet a pervert in the men’s toilet, at least you know that if you were to confront him, the law is on your side.
You don’t have to feel so helpless and loser-ish for running away.
I’m going away because I’m giving you a chance is so much better than omg, I’m going away because there’s nothing I can do about you perving on me, right?
And with that, I’m going to Clementi MRT station’s men’s toilet to see if I can catch the uncle this time.
