When you’re having a diarrhea, drink 100plus. If you’re having a cough, drink coke with some salt. These are old wives’ tales we’ve heard from our parents and grandparents since we were young.
Thankfully, the things we heard are pretty mild when compared to this poor man who almost died, dignity definitely not intact.
A Man Heard On The Streets That Shoving a Live Eel Into His Anus Will Cure His Constipation
We all know that having constipation sucks. So we can (kind of) understand where this guy is coming from.
When he heard that a live eel can relieve, or maybe even cure, his constipation, he decided to give this method a shot.
Plus, eels are a common fish in Southern China so no harm trying, right?
Wrong.
Doctors Removed Live Eel From Man’s Stomach
After experiencing a bloated stomach and sharp pains, the man was admitted to the hospital.
Which isn’t a surprise, because live eel.
Eels have “pointed jaws, sharp teeth and a body that is able to burrow efficiently through sand, mud and pebbles.” Now tell me, how is your intestine going to compete with that?
The particular specimen they extracted from the man was half-a-metre long and had a head the “size of a ping-pong ball”.
When they managed to extract the eel from his body, they found that it has already broken through his intestines and screwed up his abdominal activity. Ouch.
Kind of like a burst appendicitis, if you really think about it. Just ten times worse. In other words, he almost died.
Someone introduce the man to some bananas.
