The area where the body was found is only accessible via a small opening in the trees, which led some joggers to initially wonder what police were searching for when they saw the cordoned area around 8.45am.
A witness who posted about the incident on Reddit noted that the man was naked when discovered and speculated that โhe got washed up by the waves.โ The poster also suggested that the area might have been covered by high tide due to recent heavy rain.
Curious Joggers Observe The Scene
A 29-year-old passer-by, who wanted to be known only as Ms Ng, told The Straits Times she was taking a walk in the park when a jogger alerted her to the body near the beach.
โI was very shocked when I saw the body myself,โ Ms Ng said.
She observed three police cars and a Police Coast Guard patrol craft at the incident site, adding that she was โvery sorry that this personโs life had to end this way.โ
The Singapore Civil Defence Force also confirmed they received a water rescue assistance call but found their help was not needed upon arrival.
A photo shared on social media showed at least three uniformed police officers examining the rocky beach area bounded by vegetation.
Police investigations into the case are ongoing.
