S’porean Man Tries To Test System After Crashing Borrowed Car, Gets Jailed Instead

He gave his dead colleague’s particulars to the police.

Image: straitstimes.com

On 4 June 2017, Ivan Tan borrowed the car from Mr Tan Ah Seng. At that time, he was only holding on to a provisional driving license (PDL).

For those who are unaware, a PDL is a license given to someone learning to drive and isn’t a driving license (i.e. he doesn’t have a driving license). Individuals with a PDL are required to drive with a qualified instructor in the same car and display the ‘L’ plate when driving.

Both of which Ivan Tan didn’t do.

He got into an accident with a car driven by Ms Chua Yah Choo along Clementi Ave 6. No one was injured in the collision.

He sped away from the accident scene without providing personal particulars to the other party. Ms Chua lodged a police report immediately after.

The next day, he brought the car to the workshop to have it fixed.

When the police tracked down the car and the owner, he finally confessed about what happened to the owner.

So you’d be thinking…okay lah, he just humji at that point in time. Nothing wrong mah

Nope, there’s more.

After attending a colleague’s, Mr Low Geok Seng, funeral, he had the bright idea of submitting his dead colleague’s particulars to the Traffic Police.

The police found out it couldn’t be Mr Low as he was in hospital and bedridden at that point in time.

On 7 Aug, the police caught up to Ivan Tan and he confessed to his crimes.

He was sentenced to four months’ jail, fined $1,800 and disqualified from driving all classes of vehicles for a year.

All I can say is…this is a prime example of a man who doesn’t dare to face the consequences of what he did.

Alert Commuter Catches Man Who Takes Upskirt Video at Bishan MRT Station

Here’s a quick question: how aware are you of your surroundings when you’re out of the streets of Singapore?

Super sensitive to your surroundings totally absorbed in your phone?

Lucky for a woman at Bishan MRT station, this man was alert enough to catch a pervert in the act.

Image: straitstimes.com

On 3 May, 27-year-old Fitri Hakim was at Bishan MRT station when he noticed the suspicious actions of another man.

He said that the man’s wallet was covering his phone, but about a fifth of it was exposed. It was also noticed that he saw the red recording button on the screen.

Tailing behind a girl, he got on the escalator directly behind her even though it wasn’t that crowded.

Unaware, the girl got off the escalator and went towards the trains.

Mr Fitri then grabbed hold of the man’s arm and ask for his phone.

After finding the video, he brought the man over to the ticketing service who called for the Public Transport Security Command (Transcom).

The police said that a 27-year-old man was arrested with relation to the case, and investigations are still ongoing.

Good job, Mr Hakim. You proved that heroes don’t need to wear capes.

S’porean Man Who Tried Blackmailing Woman For Money & Sex Jailed

Singapore might be small but we have plenty of sick people living among us.

There are those who takes advantage of young girls, there are those who are willing to go above and beyond to escape their punishment, and everything in between.

Then there are those sick boyfriends who’ll post nude photos of their exes online just because.

Here’s a case of one such sick- no, scratch that- two such sick individuals.

Read on.

This is Alexandra Chan Chee Meng, a 44-year-old man with a kid.

He managed to grab hold of a 25-year-old woman’s nude photos and her mobile phone number.

After her boyfriend and her had broken up back in Jan 2015, the ex-boyfriend had shared her nude photographs with users of the website, Alamak Chat, privately.

Chan proceeded to text and call the 25-year-old woman, telling her that he has her nude photographs.

“What can you offer me to take (the pictures) back? Cash or body?”

Finally on 23 Apr 2016, she threatened to go the police. Chan, however, told her that if she did, her photos will never be deleted.

On 22 May 2016, the woman went to the police.

He was sentenced to two months jail on 4 May, and is currently out on bail of $15,000 to settle some personal matters.

He will start his sentence on 11 May.

The ex-boyfriend was also sentenced to two months jail.

Ladies, if you are ever blackmailed or threatened, go to the authorities even if it’s super embarrassing. This is the only way sick individuals like these two will ever be dealt with.

Because if you don’t, you know they’re never going to stop. And their demands will get even more outrageous over time.

Bike-sharing Companies To Apply For New License Or Shut Down

Image: channelnewsasia.com

LTA has spoken. If you didn’t know, LTA is playing hardball right now, with both businesses and members of the public.

This time, they issuing a warning to bike-sharing companies.

“Apply for the new bike-sharing license by 7 Jul, or be shut down.”

Image: Drawception

The application for the new license will start on 8 May, and companies like Mobike, ofo and oBike can apply for a license to operate in public spaces for up to two years.

And if any company fail to do so by 7 Jul, they’ll be shut down with immediate effect.

Those who are illegally running a bike-sharing company without the license may be fined up to S$10,000, jailed up to six months, or both.

And if the offence continues, they’ll be fined S$500 per day.

The new license allows LTA the power to regulate the fleet size of each bike-sharing company.

Of course, should the company proved itself good at managing indiscriminate parking among other factors, they’ll be allowed to grow their fleet.

This comes after LTA made a surprise announcement about new PMD laws that could result in jail time for errant e-scooter riders.

S’pore Maid Walked on Broken Glass To Save Three-Year-Old Boy

You know, we’ve heard a lot of stories about bad maids in Singapore. But just like two sides of a coin, there are good ones here too.

Like Filipino maid Sheryl Manuel Carabacan.

Image: straitstimes.com

On 28 Apr, a mother, known only as Ms Lee, brought her three-year-old son to her older sister’s house.

Her son went to the toilet, accompanied by Jena, her own helper.

When Jena was distracted with flushing the toilet, the toddler attempted to force open the door.

And the tempered glass door shattered onto him.

Blood was streaming down the toddler’s head and Jena was in a state of shock.

Naturally, the toddler wanted to move away from the scene but before he could take a step, her sister’s maid, Sheryl, shouted at the boy.

She told Jena to lift the boy up, then walked on top of the broken glass into the toilet and carry the boy back out to safety.

Luckily, both maids were unharmed as tempered glass is designed to implode into smaller pieces of glass bits with rounder edges.

Measures To Prevent Heatstroke Were Done Before Route March

One topic that every Singaporean is very interested about is the investigation into the death of CFC Dave Lee.

And the independent Committee of Inquiry (COI) has some updates for the family.

Measures to Prevent Heatstroke Were Taken Before The Route March

They said that measures to prevent heatstroke, like water parade and temperature taking was conducted before the fast march.

It was shown that Dave had normal body temperature before the activity.

In addition, he added that cooling measures like removal of clothes and application of ice or water was done.

As well as sending him to the hospital after it was proven that the medical centre’s evaporative body cooling units couldn’t improve his condition.

“All these measures were taken for CFC Dave Lee. We are deeply saddened and disappointed that despite these measures, his condition did not improve, resulting in his demise,” BG Liow, the SAF Commander said.

BG Liow also said that the SAF is committed to zero fatality and will be looking at new ways to prevent such an incident from happening again.

¯\_(ツ)_/¯
