A 37-year-old Indian national, Singh Sagar, faced five theft charges in court on 7 April 2025 following an alleged theft spree at Changi Airport Terminal 3’s departure transit area.
The incident occurred on 23 Mar 2025, when Singh allegedly stole more than $1,800 worth of items from five different retail outlets within a span of less than three hours.

Between 2:00pm and 4:50pm on 23 Mar, Singh allegedly targeted multiple stores in the transit area.

His spree began at WH Smith bookstore, where he reportedly stole over $550 worth of merchandise, including three stationery sets and a power bank.
Singh then proceeded to The Cocoa Trees candy shop, where he allegedly took four boxes of chocolates valued at more than $238.
His theft continued at Discover Singapore souvenir store, Kaboom toy store, and Victoria’s Secret lingerie shop, where he took multiple boxes of jewellery, T-shirts, watches, and a handbag worth $135.
Police were alerted when a handbag was discovered missing from one of the retail outlets.
Through ground enquiries and surveillance footage review, authorities identified Singh and detained him within 30 minutes of the report being filed, preventing him from leaving Singapore.
The total value of stolen items from the five outlets, including watches, shirts, chocolates, and accessories, amounted to more than $1,800.
Recent Theft Cases and Legal Consequences
This marks the second reported case of theft at Changi Airport in recent days.
In another incident, Australian national Raj Varsha, 35, was charged on 4 Apr 2025, two years after allegedly stealing a bottle of Chanel perfume worth $248 from a store at Changi Airport Terminal 1’s departure transit area in March 2023.

Raj left Singapore after the theft but was arrested when she returned on 31 Mar 2025. She is expected to plead guilty on 11 Apr.
Singh is scheduled to plead guilty to his charges on 25 Apr. Under Singapore law, each theft charge carries a potential jail term of up to seven years and a fine.
