What happens if you want to pay for sex from someone who’s under 18?
Well, you don’t. And you shouldn’t.
26YO Man Jailed 10 Months for Posing As Sugar Mummy to Lure 17YO Boy Into Sex
I had to do a double take too, but yep, you read that headline right.
Muhammad Al-Masfuiin Mushin, 26, pled guilty to one count of having commercial sex with a minor under the age of 18 on Monday, 14 June.
According to TODAYonline, he had apparently pretended to be a woman and answered a teenage boy’s advertisement searching for a “sugar mommy”, a term referring to an older woman who provides financial support to younger men in exchange for a typically sexual relationship.
The incident began when the teenage boy in question, who cannot be named by a court order, was expelled from his home on 16 June 2019 after an altercation with his mother.
Ouch.
In need of financial support, the then-17-year-old decided to publish an advertisement on the website Locanto appealing for a sugar mummy.
Enter Al-Masfuiin, who encountered the advertisement the following day and contacted the teenager by Telegram, pretending to be a woman “looking for a young boy to be my sex slave”.
Apparently, he asked the teenager’s real age, and the latter truthfully responded that he was 17.
Al-Masfuiin then offered the boy “sex with my boyfriend and I” (while still posing as a woman), because the logical step after having the sense of checking and confirming if the boy was above 18 was to have clearly illegal commercial sex with him.
They then met up on 17 June, where Al-Masfuiin offered the teenager lodging at “her boyfriend’s place” and that “her boyfriend” would be his “slut” that evening.
O… kay.
Court documents show that the boy understood this to mean reciprocal sex acts were expected for the overnight stay, which would be the basis for an exploitative relationship.
The teenager was evidently hesitant, asking “her” first through text whether “she” would be joining the sex and whether the “boyfriend” knew that he was 17.
Al-Masfuiin replied (as the woman) that “my (boyfriend) will tell me if you did a great job at sex.”
Well, no doubt “she” wouldn’t be joining them. She doesn’t even exist.
To the latter inquiry, “the woman” said, “Yes… I like my boys young.”
If that isn’t a huge red sign to yeet the heck out of there, I don’t know what is.
The teenager arrived at Al-Masfuiin’s place of residence shortly at about 1:20am on 18 June, and left in the morning when Al-Masfuiin gave the boy $50 to get to work.
A police officer on foot patrol found the boy and was alerted that he was offering sexual services from texts on his mobile phone, though the details were not provided in court.
Al-Masfuiin was sentenced to ten months in prison for having commercial sex with a minor under 18, though the maximum jail term for the offense is much longer at seven years.
