Another molestation case?
Yes, unfortunately. I don’t really understand the prominence of molestation cases in recent years.
Maybe nowadays Singapore too hard to find a girlfriend? Or Singapore too stressful? We’ll never know.
After a Ryde driver allegedly molested a woman in her sleep and a man who gloated and taunted after molesting, it seems nothing new can come out of molestation cases.
Well, you were wrong.
Man Used Sob Story To Molest Woman
A Chinese national known as Li Xiang had a “creative” way of getting in close with his target.
On 7 January earlier this year, Li approached a 24-year-old lady at Jurong East Interchange.
He began to share his life story with her, which I assume was extremely pitiful. Before long, he broke into tears and the kind-hearted lady gave him a hug out of sympathy.
Using this opportunity, Li returned the hug and started kissing her on her forehead and lips. After he apologised, the woman wanted to leave but he grabbed her, wrapping his arms around her waist and kissing her again.
Wut? Apologise then do it again?
The lady then tried to tell him that she was already attached and they were not compatible. She then made a police report after telling her boyfriend about the incident.
After Li was arrested, he also mentioned that the lady was his “type of lady”. Well, seeing as how kind and nice she was, I don’t doubt that.
Not The First Offence
Unfortunately, that wasn’t his first victim. She was his third.
He had molested a woman at People’s Park Complex last year on 23 July after following her for 23 minutes (planned? lol). He also snatched her phone after a brief struggle.
Later last year on 11 November, he ran up to another 29-year-old woman (why never follow for 11 minutes first?) and groped her before fleeing.
Cried Again After Getting 16 Weeks of Jail
Li Xiang was eventually sentenced to 16 weeks in jail, which he broke down afterwards crying, apologising and swearing that he would never repeat his mistakes.
For his sake and other women’s, I certainly hope so.
In his mitigation, it was also mentioned that Li came from a remote village in China and has no romantic experience.
Well, I believe him. And the sob story that he used? Probably true, if you ask me.
I do hope he gets over his troubles in life and moves forward to becoming a better man.
