If you have been paying attention to the internet recently, you’ll know that a Singaporean YouTuber, Nicole Choo, decided to take the plunge and went bare in front of the camera. Or to be exact, barefaced, sans makeup.
Now, we all know that makeup does wonders, and a girl can look totally different when she has makeup on, and without. Remember all those stories of men divorcing their wives because they saw them without makeup for the first time on their wedding night?
And I’m sure all of us are not unfamiliar to the concept, given how some netizens are commenting that the first date should not be at the cinema, but the swimming pool instead.
Of course, most, if not all of us are familiar with how the internet works. You post something online, and reactions happen. If the reactions are great, it’s either you’re great or only your friends view your production. If you have internet trolls trolling at you, well, that’s part and parcel of life as well.
The internet has given us a lot of great things: from jobs to the freedom to express our thoughts and opinions, but along with the good things come the bad as well: the carelessness of commenters, the negativity, together with tasteless and tactless opinions that might not be as acceptable in face-to-face interactions in society today.
Most influencers and online businesses have taken it as a regular part of life, so we were not surprised to see that her video has garnered some pretty bad comments.
Ouch.
And now, we go on to personal attacks too.
And one questioned why she 自討苦吃 and made this video for others to laugh at; and added a little insult at the end to round off the comment.
Of course, as with such negative comments, there will be people who rise up to defend her against their comments. The general sentiments expressed by positive comments commended her on her bravery and encouragement for her to continue what she’s doing.
One commenter, MrOldestPerson couldn’t take it anymore, and decided to give an epic response that calls out to all the internet trolls online and hopefully impart a few gems of wisdom to Miss Nicole Choo as well.
The most epic statement of the year could be here: “Wear makeup, tio shoot. Remove makeup, tio shoot.” “What you want?!” remains unsaid, in my own opinion.
And when Miss Nicole Choo replied to the comment and thanked MrOldestPerson sincerely, he had this to say to her:
Tell us, did you cheer when you hear what he said? I did. A wise man, MrOldestPerson is.
What do you think?
