The victim is a 17-year-old girl diagnosed with Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) and intellectual disability. Court documents revealed that on 6 Apr 2025, the accused contacted the victim through Instagram.

The next day, he told the victim that his father-in-law was hospitalised and asked to borrow S$360 from her. The victim agreed and met the accused at the void deck of his residential block the following day to hand over the money.

The accused’s 14-year-old girlfriend became upset after learning about their communication. The accused told his girlfriend that he found the victim “clingy” and wanted to teach her a lesson.

The couple then conspired to lure the victim out so that the girlfriend could assault her.

Man Lied to Police to Shield Girlfriend

The accused lied to police to protect his girlfriend, claiming that it was his neighbour who attacked the victim.

The girlfriend had also identified herself as the accused’s neighbour during the assault. As a result, the victim informed police that she was assaulted by a “neighbour” of the accused.

During his statement, the accused said his “neighbour” was a close friend who had assaulted the victim. She was upset that the victim had caused the accused and his “girlfriend” to break up.

Police eventually discovered that the “neighbour” was actually the accused’s girlfriend.

When questioned again, the accused admitted that he had lied. He pleaded with the judge, saying that he had learnt his lesson from the incident and asked the court for a lighter sentence and permission to call his family.
