65Y/O Man Charged with Molesting Girl on Bus in Yishun

A 65-year-old man has been charged in court after allegedly molesting a girl on a bus along Yishun Ring Road in Singapore.

The incident occurred on 23 April 2025, when police received a report at approximately 10:35am that a girl had been molested by an unknown man while travelling on a bus.

Officers from Woodlands Police Division acted swiftly, utilising ground enquiries and images from police cameras and CCTVs to identify the suspect.

The authorities arrested the man within just three hours of receiving the report.

The suspect was formally charged in court on 25 April 2025 with outrage of modesty under Section 354(2) of the Penal Code 1871.

If convicted, the man faces serious consequences. The offence carries potential penalties including imprisonment for up to five years, a fine, caning, or a combination of these punishments.

Police Statement

In their statement, the Singapore Police Force (SPF) emphasised their firm stance on such offences.

“The Police have zero tolerance towards sexual offenders who threaten the personal safety of the community,” the statement read.

Law enforcement officials added that offenders will be “dealt with sternly in accordance with the law”.

The police have urged members of the public to remain vigilant and report immediately if they witness or become aware of incidents involving outrage of modesty.

This case follows other recent incidents of alleged sexual misconduct in Singapore, including a separate case involving a man who allegedly assaulted a cabin crew member on a flight to Singapore.
