Man Said He Molested Primary School Girl Coz He Has ‘No Woman’

A 59-year-old cleaner at a mall was sentenced to one and a half years in prison for molesting a 12-year-old girl.

The reason? He has “no woman” and went ahead with his urges.

Here’s what happened.

Preyed On Ex-Neighbour’s Daughter

According to court documents, the man used to live close to the victim and her mother.

On 27 Sep 2020, the man happened to come across the 12-year-old girl who was walking home from school.

Running up to her, he insisted on sending her home.

Unwary because he’s her ex-neighbour, she agreed.

However, as they were walking, the man put his arm around the girl’s waist.

The victim tried escaping his hold but wasn’t able to and was taken to a bench, and later, a staircase landing, after reaching her home’s lift lobby.

Repeatedly Molesting Her

At the staircase landing, he sat beside her and molested her.

He also reportedly tried to force the victim to touch his private part but gave up after the victim struggled fiercely.

He continued molesting her, and when she tried to protect herself, kissed her on the lips and tried to stick his tongue in.

The victim’s ordeal only stopped when the man’s employer called him on his mobile and asked him to get back to work.

Regardless, he gave her one last kiss before leaving for his job.

Caught

Later, the victim told her mother about what happened, who then called the police.

She got the police to send a female officer to their home as her daughter is “reluctant” to go down to the police station to make a report.

The man was arrested shortly after.

The police questioned the man and asked why he did what he did.

The man replied that he is a divorcee and has “no woman”. So when he felt the urge to “touch her”, he went ahead to do so.

Sentencing

The prosecution requested for at least 19 months’ jail, which includes one month in lieu of caning, seeing as the man is older than 50 years old and can’t be caned.

He pointed out that the man behaved like a “persistent predator” and was aware that what he was doing is wrong, yet he went ahead and did it anyway.

“The accused had first pushed the victim down, then kissed her on her lips, and after a short while, he had tried to use his tongue to enter her mouth. This course of action shows a perverted persistence on the part of the accused.”

The prosecutor also added that it was fortunate that the man’s employer called and stopped him from continuing to molest the victim.

The man pleaded guilty to three counts of molesting a minor. He had another four charges taken into consideration.

For each charge of molesting a minor, he could be jailed for up to five years and fined.
