You’ve probably seen videos of “best dads ever” doing stuff like this.
Or this.
While it all seems like fun and games, you might want to take a look at your surroundings before doing stuff like that.
Or a joyous occasion might just end up a tragedy.
Man Threw 2YO Girl Into The Air
According to reports, this incident happened in Ampang, Malaysia on 19 June 2019 at about 10 pm.
A 25-year-old male threw his two-year-old cousin into the air while playing with her.
She was reportedly crying and he wanted to humour her and calm her down.
Unfortunately for him, he did not take into consideration the surroundings and an accident happened.
Accident
The toddler’s head hit the ceiling fan.
She was sent to the hospital but was pronounced dead the next day.
Cause of death? Blunt head trauma.
The father of the daughter has since lodged a police report against the relative and he is remanded for seven days to assist in the investigations.
It’s Actually Pretty Common For Toddlers
Looking at the comments section, netizens agreed that tossing kids into the air happens.
Some hope this incident will alert them to how dangerous it actually is.

While another felt that this is a pure accident.
Please Don’t Try This At Home (Or Anywhere, In Fact)
Even if you check-clear properly, or do it in an open patch of field, toddlers should not be thrown into the air.
Babies are fragile. Their bones aren’t as hard, skulls not as thick and overall, and all babies should be labelled with:
Especially those below two years old.

Tossing the baby into the air slightly (read: less than a foot) isn’t forceful enough to cause harm.
However, there are still risks in this action.
You might accidentally drop the toddler. You might throw the kid too high because you realise the further you throw, the happier they are.
It might be better to do what these dads did instead.
Or, if you’re lucky enough to be able to grow a beard.
Woo, comfy.

And Please Don’t Do This:
Shaking a baby gently is fine, it lulls them to sleep.
But if you do it like this dude?
It can cause small blood vessels on the top of the head to tear, resulting in an interruption of blood flow and possibly lead to brain damage.
