Kids are mostly cute.
…mostly.
It is probably part of our instincts to find them cute since survival instincts mean that we are designed to find little versions of ourselves somewhat appealing.
So the question is: have we gone to the point where we find other people’s children cute?
I guess so since cute is a trait and adoption is a thing.
So what about the even more high-level stuff? Like this man who…
Claimed He Was Father Of Three Year Old Girl In Front Of Parents
That scenario happened exactly right around 5.30pm, 9 Sep 2019 at Johor Bahru City Square.
This man just straight-up walked up to the parents walking with their 3-year-old girl and claimed to be her father. The man tried to take the girl away, though it wasn’t clear how much force was used here.
Like any sane parents, they refused. They didn’t even know who this guy was.
That’s right, the man just straight-up went up with a “surprise adoption” offer to a family he hasn’t even met before.
But the man didn’t just go away, and instead stayed around the area while watching the family of three’s movements.
Creeped out by his actions, the parents filed a police report at around 6.25pm.
When the police arrived, the man had already left in a grey Proton Persona.
Arrested On 13 September 2019
With some help from the public on Facebook, the man was finally found and arrested at around 3pm four days later.
The man’s name is Tony, 35 years old, tested negative for drugs and had no criminal record. He claims to not be a part of any kidnapping syndication.
So like any villain with a sob story behind their actions, Tony had one too.
His Vietnamese wife had left him, taking their two children with her back to Vietnam while also leaving him with debt.
Being burdened by the family-related stress, he lost control and wanted to take other people’s kid as a replacement for his own.
He will be detained by the police to assist in investigations.
As far as we know, the family hasn’t been hurt.
Do watch your kids, parents.
On the other hand, I do hope that this was really just an impulse action, and the man will regret his actions and get his life back together soon.
