Man Without Mask Smashed Shop After He Was Denied Alcohol; Police Had to Be Called In

It’s midnight, and you feel like having a drink.

Not Coke or Iced Milo of course. You want something with a little alcohol to settle your nerves as you sink into your sofa, which you’ve been closely acquainted with during the Covid-19 pandemic.

The only problem is that the sale of alcohol is prohibited after 10.30pm.

Nevertheless, you try your luck.

And you fail.

The shopkeeper, as he’s required to do by law, refuses to sell you alcohol.

So what do you do?

Smash the heck out his store and leave, of course.

Man Without Mask Smashed Shop After He Was Denied Alcohol; Police Has to Be Called In

A video of a man arguing with a shopkeeper at a convenience store has made the rounds on social media.

The video was shared on the Facebook group All Singapore Stuff on Monday (9 Nov).

The video seems to have been captured on a CCTV camera in the store, which says that the incident occurred around 12.05am on 2 Nov.

At the beginning of the video, the man angrily gesticulates at the shopkeeper and various things in the store.

The video has no sound, but it’s evident that the man is incensed.

This violent pointing goes on for nearly 40 seconds, during which the man does what no shopper is supposed to: pass the sacred invisible barrier separating the shopper and the shopkeeper.

The shopkeeper tries his best to appease the man, but to no avail.

Smashes Shop Up

Here, the man had two options:

  • realise that getting angry will not magically bring alcohol into his mouth
  • literally anything but take his anger out on the store

So, naturally, the man took his anger out on the store.

After his brutally aggressive pointing, the man talks on the phone in what appears to be an animated conversation.

He then goes behind the counter, once again passing the sacred invisible barrier, though its unclear what he does there.

Then, the man finally leaves the store but not before taking a wild swipe at some innocent items hanging in front of the counter, causing them to scatter all over the floor.

Dispute Allegedly Involved Sale of Alcohol

Now, it’s safe to say that this heated dispute didn’t arise because the store was out of Strepsils.

According to the post’s caption, the man wanted to buy alcohol, but the shopkeeper rightly refused, as it’s against the law.

Enraged, the man smashed up the store before leaving.

He wasn’t wearing a mask either, but let’s take one thing at a time.

According to Mothership, the police said they were alerted to a case of mischief at Blk 304 Woodlands Street 31 at about 12:47am.

A 35-year-old man is currently assisting with police investigations.

So, what have we learned today?

Reader: Always stock your fridge with beer so you never run out?

Exactly.

Also, you know, don’t smash shops up, no matter how angry you are. It’s just not very nice.
