When we’re exhausted, discouraged, or just need that little kick to keep going, some of us rely on what we call the “magic liquid” to keep ourselves in a good mood.
It’s always a gamble to do things while drunk, though, for you lose all rational thought and may not even remember what you did.
While alcohol can also give you the courage to do things you never thought you’d be able to do in your inebriated state, it could very well also bring out the worst in you.
Drunken Man Causes Trouble In Little India
Drinking in the day can really bring about a different kind of sentiment, but preferably not at the expense of others.
A video of a drunken man being restrained by the police on the streets of Little India made its rounds on social media earlier this week, capturing the attention of netizens.
The incident allegedly happened on Monday, 20 September, along Serangoon Road at about 2:45pm in the afternoon.
Witnesses first saw a visibly drunken man walking into a hardware store.
However, the man began arguing with store assistants soon after, with tensions rising.
The man then proceeded to grab random items from the store and flung them angrily towards the store’s entrance, resulting in a mess.
Harassed Women Passing By
Not even innocent passersby were spared from this man’s drunk fury.
After he threw the items around, he turned around, panting in anger, only to see a woman passing by the store at that time, right in his line of sight.
According to witnesses, he just suddenly stepped forward towards her without saying anything and shoved her for no reason.
Scared, the woman began to pick up her pace and walked away quickly.
However, the drunkard still continued to harass the woman verbally.
One witness testified that the man kept spitting insults at her, pointing the middle finger towards her and screaming vulgarities.
Fortunately, no one got injured from the incident, and people around the vicinity mostly just decided to ignore the drunkard.
Came Back For More
Well, the man probably wasn’t satisfied with that.
An hour later, he showed up at the same hardware store again, unable to let the matter go and kicked up another big fuss.
Now, that couldn’t possibly go ignored, so the police were called in.
They arrived swiftly at the scene and promptly subdued the drunk man on the path outside of the shop, who continued to yell loudly and resist.
However, it seemed like he sobered up after a while and realised the trouble he got himself into, repeatedly saying sorry to the police officers and asking for mercy.
The police confirmed that they arrested a 38-year-old man for harassing others while drunk, and investigations remain ongoing.
Lately, there’s been more news of drunk men causing scenes in public places, too.
Just last week, one man even threw a chair and a dustbin down from the upper floors of Hong Lim Hawker Centre in his rage. Others punched vehicles and drivers on the road, while another rammed right into road signs.
It’s probably best to drink responsibly and not do anything you’ll regret after sobering up.
