Maserati Driver Allegedly Drove Against Traffic, Hit GrabFood Rider & Fled the Scene

While doing their best to deliver food to customers across Singapore, delivery riders often have to deal with unreasonable customers, tiring hours, and the like, including exposing themselves to the dangers of the roads while rushing from place to place.

As most of them utilise motorcycles to make their daily rounds, it also means that they’re more accident-prone due to the exposed nature of riding a motorcycle and its light body.

And in the worst cases, they might even meet irresponsible drivers who run away after hitting them, just like this person.

Accident At Airport Road

Facebook group SG Road Vigilante shared photos of a tragic incident in which a GrabFood rider was apparently involved in a hit and run with a Maserati driver on the night of 10 Nov.

The incident, as detailed in a police report, took place at Airport Road around 10:30pm.

The rider said that he was on the way to a delivery and drove his motorcycle along Paya Lebar Road before stopping at the junction between the two roads.

He also stated that there was no oncoming traffic at the time.

He then spotted a white Maserati driving against the flow of traffic on the one-way road as he turned onto Airport Road, causing a head-on collision to happen and leading the rider to fall on his right side.

Instead of stopping to help like a decent human being would probably do, the Maserati driver fled the scene, driving away towards Upper Paya Lebar Road.

Irresponsible, much?

As a result, the rider suffered from serious injuries and was immediately sent to Changi General Hospital. The motorcycle was seen to be badly damaged in the photos due to the impact of the collision, as it was also described in the report.

In light of his injuries, he was given 15 days worth of medical leave.

Was Given Chase

The Maserati driver may have gotten away with it scot-free if not for the help of other kind witnesses who watched the unfair incident happen.

Another male rider from Malaysia and a driver followed the Maserati as the driver fled after the hit-and-run, attempting to find out his identity.

Thankfully, the driver managed to snap a photo of the Maserati’s license number after chasing the car down for 4km, and submitted the photo to the police to help in investigations.

There is no truth in the world that can be concealed, for the Maserati was tracked down eventually and found, with a photo of it shared on the page.

It seemed to have been in rough condition after the collision, as scrapes could be seen on the bonnet and dents in several areas as well, showing that it wasn’t a light impact.

Arrested For Drink Driving

On 10 Nov, the Singapore Police Force told media outlets that they had been informed of the incident at around 11:09pm.

They also stated that the rider had apparently been unconscious while he was being sent to the hospital, and that the 46-year-old male driver of the Maserati had been arrested on charges of drunk driving.

Investigations are still ongoing.

This only goes to show that despite having the money to purchase a nice luxury car, manners cannot be bought as well.

Reader Bao: Who says he bought the car with his own money?

Oh, right.
