It’s the year 5020, and homo sapiens have become extinct.

A more intelligent species that emerged soon after starts conducting studies on human beings based on the articles and videos we uploaded online in our time. Aside from our concerning attachment to bubble tea, everything else seems normal to our successors on Earth, except…

Why did they get so angry when they drove?

Why were drivers in such a rush?

Why did so many drivers and bikers flash their middle fingers? Was this a hand signal for motorists?

For now, while we’re putting all our research efforts into developing a Covid-19 vaccine, these questions will remain unanswered.

Drivers will continue to act irrationally, and we’ll continue to be fascinated by them.

Maserati Jams-Brakes, Gets Hit By Car Behind

A video of a white Maserati braking suddenly in front of another vehicle along Keppel Road has been making the rounds on social media.

In the video, which was uploaded by the Facebook groupĀ SG Road Vigilante, the car with the dashboard camera collides with the rear of the Maserati, and an altercation ensues between both drivers.

Anyone who has driven a car in Singapore will tell you that Singaporean drivers are only slightly less patient than a starving tiger who has just caught a gazelle.

This is why some drivers tailgate the car ahead of them, to pressure them to speed up or filter to the left lane.

That’s not what happened here, though.

According to the description which accompanied the video, the Maserati driver was upset that the driver behind him flashed his high beam at him.

This seem to have occurred early on in the video, when the car with the dashcam was trying to filter to the middle lane but was prevented from doing so as the white Maserati in that lane sped up.

So, the driver allegedly flashed his high beam at the Maserati, which never really helps in these situations.

Later, as the car with the dashcam is approaching a slip road, the white Maserati appears out of nowhere, cuts off the dashcam car, and brakes suddenly.

As a result, the car behind collides with the rear of the Maserati.

An Unnecessary AltercationĀ

No incident of road rage is complete without an unnecessary altercation, of course.

After the accident, the driver of the Maserati immediately exits his car, as do his three passengers.

Both drivers start arguing, and they use this opportunity to show off their extensive vocabulary by peppering their rants with expletives.

According to MS News, the Maserati driver claims that the dashcam car driver was in the wrong for colliding with his car, and challenged him to talk outside the vehicle, though “talking” was likely the last thing he had in mind.

As the two argue, the female passenger snaps some photos of the driver of the dashcam car as well as the damage done to both vehicles.

The Maserati and his passengers then return to the car and drive off.

An Accident?

As most drivers know, the proper etiquette for drivers who get into an accident is to take pictures of both cars, exchange information, and come to a compromise on whether to settle the dispute privately or claim insurance.

But this Maserati driver and his passengers simply took photos and drove off into the moonlight.

Was it really an accident then? Why did the Maserati brake so suddenly even though there were no cars or pedestrians in his way?

These are the questions that humans, and our intelligent successors on Earth, will never be able to answer.
