You know what they say, right?
The more you expect out of someone (or something), the more you’ll be disappointed.
So when Maxi Lim, Ah Boys To Men star, announced that he’s delaying his wedding reception in view of the Covid-19 situation, you’re probably glad you’re a fan of his.

But then, near the end of 2020, you hear this:
Ah Boys to Men Actor’s Wedding Reportedly Investigated for Alleged COVID-19 Breaches
On 20 Dec 2020, Maxi Lim and wife, influencer Lizy Teo, held their wedding reception at One Degree 15 Marina.
The couple looks happy and several well-known figures attended the event, including iconic Singapore film director, Jack Neo.
Except, images and videos posted to social media showed several alleged breaches of Covid-19 safe management measures.
Several people were spotted performing and playing games onstage without wearing masks or face shields.
Notable individuals include fellow Ah Boys To Men cast members, Charlie Goh, Joshua Tan and Noah Yap.
Influencer Nicole Choo and comedians Fakkah Fuzz and Jai Kishan were also spotted.
Guests at the reception were also seen intermingling without their masks during the march-in of the happy couple.

Singapore Tourism Board Aware Of The Incident
In a statement to The New Paper, STB director of hotel and sector manpower Tan Yen Nee said that they are aware of the incident and is investigating.
During this period, a wedding reception must be capped at 100 guests. For wedding receptions of over twenty people, the guests must be split into several groups:
- A core wedding group of no more than 20 people
- Remaining guests to be split into groups of five
A 1-metre safe distancing must be kept at all times, even for photo-taking.
Live performances are also not allowed, and anyone making a speech, including the emcees, must wear masks.
Ms Tan says that the STB takes a serious view of such breaches and will take strong action against errant businesses or individuals including “fines, temporary closure and prosecution to the full extent of the law”.

One Degree 15 Marina’s Response
One Degree 15 Marina is one of the ten hotels that STB revealed were fined for breaching Covid-19 safe management measures.
Mr Jonathan Sit, One Degree 15 Marina’s acting general manager, says that before any event, the operations team will brief both the wedding coordinator and couple on the safe management measures and ensure that there are no “games, singing and shouting”.
During the event, their staff will be on-site to tell guests and the couple to stay seated if they spot any breaches.
It was unclear, however, what happened during Lim’s wedding reception.
Mr Sit, however, shares that just like social distancing ambassadors, venue operators like them face the same challenges when trying to get guests to adhere to safe management measures.

However, he said, they will continue to carry out the measures that were put into place.
