In case you’ve been sleeping through the Circuit Breaker and have just woken up only to realise that there’s Phase One ahead of you, here’s a shocking news: McDonald’s in Singapore was closed for three weeks.
You can read this article to understand the rationale behind the closure, and the closure showed us how much we’ve taken the Golden Arches for granted; immediately after it reopened, long queues emerged and they had to close earlier on the first day.
Suffice to say, our love for McDonald’s is like your father’s love for your mother: quiet but strong.

And when absence makes the heart grow fonder?
You become this boy.
Boy Cried After Having McDonald’s Meal When It Reopens
Facebook user WatiWan MayaAdam CyraRysa is the best-est mother ever, but that’s not the point.
When McDonald’s reopens, Wati had gone to McDonald’s in Pioneer Mall to surprise her son, Adam, with McDonald’s. She even took the effort to prepare a red plastic bag but realised that it wasn’t going to work because the smell would give it away.
And so, she just placed the food on a table and got her son to come out of his room.
The moment Adam was out, things went out of control.
He literally screamed and went crazy, running around the food.
Immediately after that, he burst into tears, claiming that his mother was trying to scare him.

And when he had his McNuggets, he even placed it on his cheek, and once he had a bite, he burst into tears again.
You can watch the video here which has gone viral:
Wati had said that fries and ice-cream was Adam’s favourite, and his “overreaction” was due to his sensory sensitivity and mild autism.
Wait, was that an overreaction? I don’t think so.

In fact, it’s so viral that even an international media picked the story up.
Now THAT’S a Happy Meal! Moment nine-year-old boy weeps with joy as he tucks into his first McDonald’s after months of lockdown in Singapore
Daily Mail, a UK publication, took notice of that and published the story, too, showing the world how much we Singaporeans love our McDonald’s.
There’s not much new info but at least Boris Johnson now knows what he needs to eat when he comes down to Singapore in the near future.
And by the way, is it just me, but did anyone notice that amidst the chaos, a cat has stayed calm throughout as if nothing has happened?

Like what the Internet said, cats are indeed the real Sovereigns.
