Metal Nut Found in a King’s Potong Ice-cream Leads to Another Recall

Some daintily lick, some eagerly bite theirs, or spoon cold, soft, and delectable ice cream into their mouths. Some even enjoy having a nutty crunch to go with the melting dairy goodness that is sliding down their throats.

But ice cream can be really unpleasant if the crunch in it is made of metal instead of hazelnuts.

Yesterday, the Agri-Food & Veterinary Authority (AVA) received a feedback from a consumer on 18 August 2016 about a metal nut found in a King’s Potong red bean ice cream bar.

Here are two burning questions that readers would like to have answers to:

  1. Is the metal nut a nut from a bolt-and-nut pair or is it literally a metallic nut?
  2. Why is there a 5-day difference between the feedback’s reception and communication from the AVA?

Anyway, the AVA and the importer are still investigating the issue and as a precautionary measure “King’s Ice Confection” with expiry dates before 22 July 2018 are recalled.
