Unless you have been living under a rock, you would have heard of the tragic passing of Taiwanese actress Barbie Hsu, whose death was confirmed by the Taiwanese media on 3 February 2025.
If you happen to be a Rednote user, you might have come across a new video of Big S’s doppelganger posted on the very same day.
Known as “Middle S”, the Chinese influencer who has gained popularity from looking just like Big S, announced that she will stop imitating the deceased in her recent post on Rednote.
The Announcement
At the beginning of her video, Middle S shared that when she first started posting content of herself on social media, many netizens commented that she looked like Big S.
“I felt really happy, after all, who wouldn’t be happy when they look like a celebrity?” she said.
Since then, the influencer started to learn more about Big S. She watched the films and reality shows that she starred in, as well as listened to her wise words during her interviews.
The late actress was a “bona fide female main character” whom she admired. The former’s wise words stuck with the latter from her influencer journey to her new endeavour of starting up a business.
When she first came across the news of Big S’s death, she thought it was fake until netizens’ comments telling her to “stop imitating Big S” started flooding her comments section.
On the other hand, some netizens wished that she could continue imitating Big S to remind the people of the late actress.
Out of respect for Big S, she decided to “put a halt on the imitation.” When faced with questions about her statement of “putting a halt”, she further clarified that “putting a halt means stopping completely.”
To conclude the video, Middle S encouraged her female counterparts to be strong and independent to become the main characters of their own lives.
The New Journey Ahead
Middle S revealed that she has not been churning out much content on her social media platforms recently as she has been busy with her new start-up for the past two months, from renting her brick-and-mortar store to launching her business.
Apart from just imitation content, she assured netizens that “she has her own life as well as her own business.” Hence, from here on out, she will be “posting more about the bits and pieces of her own life.”
