Hawkers Setting Up ‘Mini Ramadan Bazaars’ Outside Their Stalls to Sell Even Ramly Burgers

When it was announced in March that all Ramadan Bazaars including the popular Geylang Serai Ramadan Bazaar would be cancelled, Singaporeans all over the country started pinching each other to make sure they weren’t having a nightmare.

Unfortunately, it was all too real.

Forget about our beloved Ramly burger and bubble tea, where else other than the Geylang Serai Bazaar would you find Praffles, a beautiful marriage of waffles and Prata?

Such culinary genius is hard to find elsewhere.

Or is it?

See, you can take Singaporeans out of the bazaar, but you can’t take the bazaar out of Singaporeans.

Hawkers Setting Up ‘Mini Ramadan Bazaars’ Outside Their Stalls to Sell Even Ramly Burgers

According to Mothership, some hawkers have been setting up ‘mini Ramadan bazaars’ outside their stalls, selling everything from Ramly burgers to kuehs.

Here are four stalls you can go to if you’re missing some good old bazaar food.

1. MCC Makan Place

A Ramadan bazaar without a Ramly burger is like bubble tea without the tapioca pearls; what’s the point?

Usually sold at pasar malams and Ramadan bazaars, these burgers can now be purchased at MCC Makan Place along Changi Road.

According to Mothership, this stall serves the standard Chicken/beef Ramly burger (S$4), or if you’re a glutton like me, you could get the Double patty chicken/beef Ramly burger (S$6).

They also sell the Roti John special (S$5), Otah-otah(S$5 for 10 pieces) and Ayam percik (S$2), a spiced coconut chicken.

If Changi is a little far for you, you can order these tasty items through delivery.

2. Ayer Rajah Food Centre

A typical Indian-Muslim stall on any day, Ayer Rajah Food Centre sells a wider selection of delicious foods during the month of Ramadan.

This includes local favourite Tulang (S$10 to S$15). Nothing’s more satisfying than getting that rich, buttery marrow out of that bone with your mouth.

They also sell a variety of kuehs and air katira, a drink often served during Ramadhan because of its cooling property.
