Another Content That’s Misleading Surfaced on the Internet, This Time of Person in Wheelchair

A really wise, old and bald man once said, “You told the truth up to a point. But a lie of omission is still a lie.” The man is so wise, he even got his own television series after making that speech more than 25 years ago.

Basically, what meant was that the person who’s made the lie claimed that he hasn’t lied because he didn’t make up any falsehoods. In other words, cannot be POFMA-ed lah.

But the omission of facts in an event is still considered a falsehood, even if it’s just misleading.

Take, for example, this:

Someone filmed a PAP contractor putting up a PAP poster. As he was putting it up, his poster has to cover the opposition party’s poster for a while so that it’ll align well.

And that someone ended the video at the point when the opposition party poster is being covered, leading others to think that the contractor had covered the opportunity party poster.

Fortunately, the full video was released so no one’s face was covered.

Reader Bao: IKEA is sponsoring PAP?

No.

Reader Bao: IKEA bag can be bigger than a girl?

No.

People were led to believe that the ruling party is focused on reaching out to others instead of helping the needy.

It doesn’t matter what you think before that, but this image certainly painted the ruling party in a bad light, and it’ll ring true if you take it at face value.

No one knows what really happened there, but suffice to say, the Internet has created a platform for us to easily create falsehoods based on facts.

Tomorrow (9 July 2020) is cooling day, so it’d be best to really think critically about what you’ve seen online in that 24 hours before you head to the polls on Friday.
